What this tool does
Ordinary enlarging stretches the pixels you already have, which is why a small picture looks soft and blocky when blown up. This works differently. A trained neural network that has studied millions of image pairs predicts what the missing detail should look like, so edges stay sharp, text stays readable and textures keep their structure.
The model is Real-ESRGAN (general x4v3), an open-source super-resolution network. It is general purpose, so it handles photographs, product shots, illustrations, screenshots and scanned documents rather than being tuned for only one of them.
How to use it
- Install the model once. The first visit downloads about 5 MB. Your browser remembers it, so later visits start immediately.
- Add your images. Drag them onto the box or click to browse. You can queue several at a time.
- Choose the enlargement. 2x, 3x or 4x. See our guide for which to pick.
- Pick a download format. "Same" keeps what you uploaded. Everything is written at maximum quality.
- Press Upscale and download the result.
Your images never leave your device
This is what makes a browser-based tool genuinely different from most online upscalers. There is no upload step. The AI model is downloaded to you, and your picture is processed on your own processor. It is never transmitted to us or anyone else, never written to a server, and never seen by another person. Once the model is installed the tool even works offline.
That matters for family photographs, medical or legal scans, unreleased product images, client work under NDA, and anything else you would rather not hand to a stranger's server.

Because the work happens on your machine, there is no queue and no server limit. A small picture on a modern computer takes seconds; a large photograph on an older laptop can take several minutes. Slow does not mean broken, it means your processor is doing real work.
Getting better results
- Start from the best original you have. Upscaling cannot recover detail destroyed by heavy compression.
- Do not upscale twice. Running output through again amplifies the model's own guesses.
- Choose 2x for a moderate lift. Faster, and often more natural.
- Use PNG for graphics and JPG or WEBP for photographs.

Why does it ask to install a model?
The AI has to be present on your device in order to run there. The download happens once and is then remembered by your browser.
Is there a file size limit?
Nothing is uploaded, so there is no upload limit. The practical limit is your device's memory. Very large images at 4x can exceed what a browser can hold, and the tool will say so and suggest a smaller setting.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, though phones are slower and have less memory, so use smaller images and fewer at a time.
Will it fix a blurry photo?
